Green Rooftops - The Problem

The last few years have seen an explosion in the green roof market and It was always in mind when designing the Urban Tree Planter to implement it into the increasing green roof market because there had not been a real solution to getting a semi mature or mature tree onto a roof top and accommodating a substantial sized root ball without major structural work needing to be completed.

The Current Solution

Given this problem many company and business are opting for a simpler approach and going for thin grown mediums with cedar mats (Extensive Green Roofs) that require little maintenance and little if not any irrigation. Of course there are still many benefits with having an extensive green roof but we believe that to get the greatest benefit for all when designing a green roof or park is to go for a more intensive approach (if possible).

A Better Solution, but still not Ideal

Intensive Green roofs have a deeper growing medium which allows the use of trees and shrubs allowing many rooftops to be turned into roof parks and communal areas. But even with a deeper medium being used it only allows small trees to be planted.

The Urban Tree Planter Solution

Regardless of which system is in place with the UTP modular system we have a design that is self contained and can be easily lifted and installed into most new developments and some existing builds.

The modular system may be laid flush into the foundation or can be adjusted so that it can raised and sit as part of the landscape like a planter would. The advantage with the UTP is that regardless of the type of roof system you go for you have the chance to get a mature tree onto your rooftop to enhance your surroundings and bring many other benefits.
