A pre-formed opening within the concrete slab is framed with a purpose-made steel collar. This physically provides tolerance and levelling capacity, an upstand for dressing external waterproofing membranes into and technically creates a spreading mechanism that avoids local crushing of the concrete slab.

A corresponding collar is pre-fixed to the planter box, providing flexibility when determining the finished level (flush with slab finishes, at seating level or fully exposed).

A thin-gauge PPC aluminium capping can be provided that clips over the planter box to dress the planter into the surrounding finishes.

Lifting Solutions

A bespoke outrigger frame and spreader beam have been developed by Waterman Group that provides clearance around the tree.

The outrigger frame comes to site in sections. The sections are placed around the tree and fixed together, with diagonal bracing providing lateral rigidity.

By following this procedure, we have ensured that the tree is not affected by the lifting process, thus avoiding damage during its installation.

It is suggested that a guy fixing system is utilised to improve the stability of the tree during the lifting process, with a 'soft' collar placed around the tree trunk at the base of the canopy.
